Overall, the suppressive effects of CLS, BLE and SLE on gene expression of Tnf-α, α-Sma, Tgf-β1 and subsequent reduction in fibrosis provide strong evidence that the aqueous leaf extracts of O. octandra is a novel, anti-fibrotic therapy that has a potential to treat patients with liver fibrosis.
