Regarding the activation of B cells producing IFN-γ, ALS patients showed a significant increase in percentage of IFN-γ compared to HCs after stimulation with both HERV-K env 19–37 (ALS vs. HCs, mean ± SD = 0.369 ± 0.121 vs. 0.044 ± 0.016; p = 0.049) (Figure 3a) and HERV-K env 109–126 (ALS vs. HCs, mean ± SD = 0.250 ± 0.18 vs. 0.055 ± 0.02; p = 0.0185) (Figure 3a). The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
