Treated NAC animals, regardless of the presence or absence of diabetes, displayed greater vascular endothelial growth factor expression around the wounded tissue (group 2: 2.92 ± 0.29 vs. group 4: 2.75 ± 0.45; p > 0.05); granulation tissue was more pronounced in the group with NAC (1.00 ± 0.00) than in the group without NAC (group 1 0.92 ± 0.29; group 3 0.92 ± 0.29). Here, VEGFA is linked to diabetes mellitus.
