In respect to the above-mentioned issues, we focused on the following factors in the current study: age, sex, TNM staging, WHO grade, tumor location (proximal colon, distal colon, rectum), tumor size, the levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cancer antigen (CA 19-9), soluble lectin adhesion molecules (L-, E-, and P-selectins), platelet count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), and mean platelet component (MCP), that may influence circulating IL-6, sCD40L, and CRP concentrations in CRC patients. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal carcinoma.
