NFKB1 and Alzheimer disease: Finally, it was very recently demonstrated that drugs exhibiting a dual-action, i.e., Nrf2 activation and NF-kB inhibition, display neuroprotective properties in models of AD [158], PD [183,184], and MS [185], thus strengthening the idea that targeting multiple pathways in the astrocytes could correct the aberrant activities of these cells and, consequently, halt neurodegeneration.
