The percentage of total area of mucosal section occupied by cells positively stained for EGF-R was 0.51 ± 0.1% in normal control mucosa, and the results were 38.8 ± 3%, 37.8 ± 2%, 37.2 ± 2%, and 38.3 ± 2%, respectively, in the mucosa of the ulcer margin or ulcer scar after 3, 7, 16, and 25 days, respectively (all p < 0.001 vs. mucosa of normal controls or sham-operated rat (Figure 4) [14].
