The authors suggested that the SIRT1/MRPS5 axis plays an important role in hepatic carcinogenesis by acting as a critical regulator of metabolic reprogramming in liver cancer stem cells, and that the SIRT1-high/cytoplasmic MRPS5-high profile could be an effective predictor of poor prognosis of patients with HCC [112]. This evidence concerns the gene MRPS5 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
