A recent systematic review on the comparison between liquid-based and tissue-based biopsies using targeted NGS in advanced NSCLC patients has shown that liquid biopsies might be unable to fully substitute their tissue counterparts in detecting clinically relevant mutations due to some disconcordance of driver mutations, such as EGFR, ALK, ROS1, and BRAF mutations [13]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
