In most cases, the fusion between the NUP98 and NSD3 genes was detected in patients with AML or myelodysplastic syndrome [69,70], which promotes hematopoietic transformation in the same fashion as already shown for the NUP98-NSD1 fusion protein, due to the structural similarity between the two [71]. This evidence concerns the gene NUP98 and acute myeloid leukemia.
