As expected, the pharmacogenetic variable “response to SNRIs”, determined from the analysis of the genetic variation in the transporter gene ABCB1 [42], was associated with lower scores in the CGI-BP-M overall and depression subscales (as well as the HDRS-17 scale), suggesting a role for this gene in predicting a good response to SNRI antidepressants in the context of BD treatment. This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and major depressive disorder.
