So, it may activate immune cells for secretion of cytokines such as IL-1, IL-2, IFN, IL-8, IL-12, IL-15 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, increasing their anti-infectious and antitumor activities, and in parallel LTF-inducing IL-10 and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, that lowers excessive reactivity of immune cells, may restrict inflammatory processes both in aseptic and septic inflammation [39,44,45].
