The analysis showed highly interconnected target genes that should be further analyzed to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms of non-cancerous smoking-associated diseases, such as Endothelin 1 (EDN1), which was associated with inflammation, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, myocardial ischemia, and hypertensive disease (Figure 6). This evidence concerns the gene EDN1 and pulmonary fibrosis.
