Furthermore, we chose to look at easily accessible markers such as acute-phase proteins (C-reactive protein—CRP, serum amyloid A1—SAA1) that are linked to the expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, as well as metabolic markers associated with the Warburg effect, i.e., glucose metabolism in cancer cells (glucose, lactate dehydrogenase—LDH, and lactate). Here, CRP is linked to cancer.
