Dimethyl-cardamonin (27) was shown to arrest cell cycle in the G1 phase by decreased expression of cyclin D1, CDK4 (cyclin-dependent kinase 4), and phospho-Rb [30], while Hseu et al. [29] reported that the chalcone flavokawain B (28) could cause cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase in human oral carcinoma cells. This evidence concerns the gene CDK4 and lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
