CRP and anemia: The patients who required ICU treatment during the hospital stay were characterized by lower diastolic blood pressure and hemoglobin oxygen saturation, as well as a range of laboratory abnormalities, including anemia; increased white blood cell (WBC), neutrophil, and monocyte counts; increased platelet counts; increased serum concentrations of CRP, IL-6, ferritin, D-dimer, PTX-3, sFlt-1, and galectin-3; high serum activities of GGT and LDH; and low concentrations of albumin and HDL-cholesterol (Table 4; Figure 1).
