Outstanding studies from Naash and colleagues showed that rod-shaped CK30-PEG (polyethylene glycol)-compacted NPs effectively transfected both RPE and photoreceptors and showed efficacious gene therapy of Rpe65−/− (retinal pigment epithelium 65; model of LCA) and Abca4−/− (Stargardt Disease) mice [39,40,41]. Here, RPE65 is linked to Leber congenital amaurosis.
