LRRK2 and Parkinson disease: Table 1 summarizes the clearly PD-pathogenic LRRK2 variants and their influence on LRRK2 function. Some of the mutations have been reported to have a contradictory effect on the LRRK2 kinase activity (e.g., I2020T) [62,63]. It is worth noting that each PD mutant in LRRK2 results in unique neuropathology [64], and their prevalence is specific to certain populations or even families [7].
