TRPM2 and neuroblastoma: On the basis of experiments conducted with mouse hippocampal neurons and neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells, employing H2O2 as a source of ROS, Li and colleagues have proposed that the Zn2+ released from lysosomes in response to the activation of lysosomal TRPM2, initiated by ROS, enters the mitochondria via mitochondrial TRPM2 channels, leading to an exacerbation of mitochondrial ROS production.
