E2F5 and lung carcinoma: in lung-carcinoma cell lines H1299 and A549, p53-R175H enhanced the expression of miR128-2 through binding to the promoter of its host gene ARPP21. miR128-2 inhibited E2F5 expression and thus decreased the expression of E2F5 target gene p21. In cells overexpressing p53-R175H, p21 localized to the cytoplasmic compartment and exerted antiapoptotic function through preventing cleavage of procaspase-3 under a DNA damage condition.
