As in the whole cohort, OS was favored in this subgroup in the presence of low levels of sPD-L1 and IL-6 in the pleural effusion as compared to high levels: sPD-L1, 16.6 months (95% CI 7.0–26.2) vs. 10.5 months (95% CI 5.8–15.2), p = 0.018, Figure 4, panel D; IL-6, 27.2 months (95% CI 9.2–45.1) vs. 8.9 months (95% CI 5.3–12.5), p = 0.001, Figure 4, panel E. Moreover, IL-27 at low concentration also improved survival in the epithelioid subgroup with respect to high concentration (16.6 months (95% CI 0.7–33.5) vs. 9.1 months (95% CI 5.1–13.1), p = 0.009, Figure 4, panel F).
