The phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase, catalytic subunit alpha (PIK3CA), also called p110 alpha protein, is a class I PI3K catalytic subunit that, at first, was considered to be highly involved in ovarian cancers, playing a role as an oncogene [37], however, the somatic mutations of PIK3CA have also been detected in colorectal, glioblastoma, gastric, breast, lung, and kidney cancers [38,39,40]. The gene discussed is PIK3CB; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
