We first analyzed macrophage subsets in cryopreserved samples, using triple-color labeling with CD11c, CD209, and CD163, to quantify cells with macrophage morphology in normal skin, skin melanoma metastases, and primary melanoma tumors (non-metastasizing and metastasizing) (Figure 1A) [17].
