Comparative analysis of 24 non-metastasizing versus 16 metastasizing primary tumors showed no difference in CD209−CD11c+ (M1-like) and CD209+CD11c+ (M1/M2 mixed) subsets, with a tendency to less CD209+CD11c− (M2-like) macrophages in metastasizing primary melanomas (p = 0.058) (Figure 1B), consistent with our previous pilot study with 5 non-metastasizing versus 5 metastasizing cases [17]. This evidence concerns the gene CD209 and melanoma.
