The main histopathological features in the epidermal architecture, such as keratinocyte hyperproliferation (acanthosis) and altered differentiation (hyperkeratosis), keratinocyte atypia, and, finally, molecular changes, such as an overexpression in the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and PIPs within the epidermis, were investigated by a pathologist. This evidence concerns the gene PCNA and Hyperkeratosis.
