Kuiper et al. [136] took aqueous samples from 175 patients, including 27 patients with lymphoma, and used a 27-protein multiplex immunoassay with unsupervised hierarchical clustering to develop a molecular profile that distinguished between lymphoma, retinal detachment, uveitis and macular degeneration on the basis of levels of IL-10, IL-21 and angiotensin-converting enzyme. The gene discussed is IL21; the disease is lymphoma.
