The results from the ToGA trial demonstrated that combination of anti-HER2 antibody (trastuzumab) with capecitabine and cisplatin, or with fluorouracil plus cisplatin led to an increase in overall survival of patients with HER2-positive advanced gastric cancer or gastroesophageal cancer in comparison with chemotherapeutic agents alone [5,38]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is gastric cancer.
