Subgroup analysis of this study (completed in 2017) revealed that dual receptor antagonism with AT1 inhibitor irbesartan and CCR2 inhibitor DMX-200 resulted in statistically and clinically significant efficacy signals in diabetic patients, and led to two more Phase 2 studies, in patients with diabetic kidney disease and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The gene discussed is CCR2; the disease is focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
