TGFBR2 and retinitis pigmentosa: Previous studies confirmed that overexpression of TGFB1 in the cones can reduce the cone degeneration caused by retinitis pigmentosa through microglia (Wang et al., 2020) and ablation of TGFBR2 in retinal microglia lead to the microglia activation and promote the pathological microglial gene expression profile (Ma et al., 2019).
