Gonzalez et al. (2004) also reported that the expression of 15-LOX-2 is higher in better differentiated NSCLC and is negatively correlated with tumor grade and tumor cell proliferation. However, whether ALOX15 participates in the occurrence of NSCLC by targeting ferroptosis remains unclear. Previous studies have indicated that the use of 12/15-LOX inhibitors or the silencing of ALOX15 expression can prevent cancer cells (including Calu-1 human NSCLC) with RAS expression from cell death in erastin- and RSL3-induced ferroptosis (Shintoku et al., 2017). The gene discussed is ALOX15; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
