NAMPT and periodontitis: The mean levels of salivary visfatin in periodontitis subjects were 38.32 ± 3.83 ng/mL that are in accordance with the study done by Nokhbehsaim et al,33who demonstrated that visfatin stimulates the production of C–C motif chemokine ligand 2 and matrix metalloproteinase-1 in the periodontal ligament cells and thus can lead to inflammation of periodontium and destruction of connective tissue.
