Synaptic vesicle genes, including SNAP-25, STX1A, VAMP2and STXBP1, are on the top list of common targets involved in Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive trajectory, further suggesting that the transcriptional downregulation of synaptic genes is directly linked to cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease. The gene discussed is SNAP25; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
