CD58 and melanoma: We found that CD58 was highly expressed in tumor tissues with high infiltrating levels of immune cells, suggesting that the activated infiltrating immune cells in tumor tissues might also be suppressed by CD58. Interestingly, CD58 loss was observed to induce immune evasion in multiple melanoma cell and tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte coculture models, and the expression of CD58 was downregulated in melanoma patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors [56].
