In the present study, CXCL10 expression was substantially upregulated both in cervical tissues of HPV infected patients with CIN or CSCC, as well as in hrHPV16E6/E7 transgenic mice, as determined by PCR array analysis of gene expression profiling in innate and adaptive immune response pathways; these findings suggested a pivotal role for hrHPV in driving tumorigenesis. The gene discussed is CXCL10; the disease is cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
