This led to the identification of 16 host genes associated with the cytokine–cytokine receptor interaction pathway that exhibited high fold-change expression patterns during the infection process as well as 17 pathogenicity-associated factors that were primarily associated with functions including regulators of systemic infection, pathogenicity island/component, and type III secretion system components (<0.05, Px,y > 0.6) (Figure 5).
