IL18R1 and Salmonella Infections: Westermann and Vogel (2018) prove that dual RNA sequencing is an effective strategy to reveal the pathogenic mechanisms and the host immune response although the RNA sequencing could only reflect the immune response of the pathogen or host. In this sense, the cytokine–cytokine receptor interaction pathway, two-component system, and bacterial secretion system are more likely to be involved in the immune response during Salmonella infection.
