Chronic inflammation, vitamin D deficiency, growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) axis, insulin resistance, limited physical activity, some adipokines like adiponectin and leptin, as well as marrow adipose tissue (MAT) have been proposed as possible mediators of mutual interactions among the skeleton, fatty tissue, and liver (23). This evidence concerns the gene GH1 and vitamin D deficiency.
