EGLN2 and cancer: Moreover, as shown in Figure S7a–c, the transcription factor FOXM1, which is the substrate of CDK6 and protects cancer cells from senescence (Anders et al., 2011; Rader et al., 2013), showed decreased expression in senescent astrocytes, and another substrate of CDK6, the oxygen sensor PHD1 (Kennel et al., 2018; Ortmann et al., 2016), showed increased expression, indicating that FOXM1 and PHD1 might be the downstream targets of CDK6 during astrocytic senescence.
