ACE2 and Hypertension: The ACE2 gene contains an alternative splicing site for the 5′ untranslated exon 1 that was found to be expressed in the lung, testis, trachea, bronchial epithelial cells, small intestine, and various major organs.4,9,10 There are19 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified in the ACE2 gene, some of which have been associated with hypertension.10,11
