Patients with a low creatinine/CysC ratio were older and more frequently women than patients with a high creatinine/CysC ratio were; they also had a greater incidence of emergent operation, congestive heart failure, moderate or higher mitral regurgitation, and lower haemoglobin, lower albumin, and higher C-reactive protein levels than patients with a high creatinine/CysC ratio did (Supplementary Table S2). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is congestive heart failure.
