LACTB and type 1 diabetes mellitus: The main findings of this study are, that (1) using broad spectrum penicillins is not associated with the prevalence of T1DM, (2) use of broad spectrum penicillins with beta-lactamase inhibitors is in inverse correlation with the prevalence of T1DM, (3) a positive correlation can be found between the use of both penicillinase sensitive and resistant narrow spectrum penicillins as well as the prevalence of T1DM.
