Several studies have suggested that N-6 adenine-specific DNA methyltransferase 1 (N6AMT1), the mammalian MTase similar to the prokaryotic DNA 6mA MTase (M. TaqI), may mediate the methylation of N6-deoxyadenosine in human liver cancer cells and mouse neurons (Xiao et al. 2018; Li et al. 2019b; Sheng et al. 2021). This evidence concerns the gene HEMK2 and liver cancer.
