Gain or amplification of MEK5 were present in 8.7% of adenocarcinomas and 25.8% of squamous carcinomas, while in the case of ERK5 such molecular alterations were present in 18.9% of adenocarcinomas and 13.5% of squamous carcinomas (Fig. 1e). The gene discussed is MAPK7; the disease is squamous cell carcinoma.
