In patients with α-synucleinopathies, such as supranuclear palsy, multiple system atrophy, dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinsons disease (Mark, 2001), CHIP is downregulated by sequestration into large α-synuclein aggregates or Lewy bodies (Shin et al., 2005).
