CYP3A4 and Familial prostate cancer: Zhou et al, in a meta-analysis, showed that carriers of the CYP3A4 rs2740574 variant in African populations are at increased risk of prostate cancer.[40] Wang et al, in a meta-analysis showed that renal transplant recipients harboring CYP3A4 rs2740574 variant require a lower dose of cyclosporine compared to those carrying wild type alleles of CYP3A4. [41] For this reason, the results of this study, which already provide an overview of this polymorphism in the Malian healthy population, will better guide the evidence-based prescription of this drug.
