Mechanistically, down-regulation of PDLIM1 in CRC cells reduces the binding of β-catenin and E-cadherin, leading to the β-catenin nuclear translocation to initiate EMT and metastatic process in CRC cells, suggesting that PDLIM1 is involved in the regulation of cell invasion and migration and exerts a tumor suppressor function in CRC. The gene discussed is PDLIM1; the disease is neoplasm.
