TRPV4 and neuropathic pain: These behavioral tests assess mechanical-induced pain and are the most common methods for evaluating OA-related pain in MIA rats to predict clinical OA pain.20 Mechanical allodynia is caused by injury to the DRG in MIA rats.24 The interactions between the sensory ending of nerves and the DRG with TRPV4 are known to be involved in neuropathic pain.1 The mechanical allodynia in TRPV4-KO MIA rats would also be suppressed by the inhibition of TRPV4-dependent DRG activation.
