MTOR and persistent truncus arteriosus: While TH status-dependent changes in cardiac function in our TAC model were in line with increased or decreased cardiomyocyte apoptosis and up- or downregulation of mTOR signaling in the T4-treated and TH-deprived TAC mouse groups, respectively, future studies are needed to examine the role of mTOR signaling in the TH-dependent recovery from pressure overload using specific inhibitors.
