Many studies have highlighted the role of Nlrp3 inflammasome/IL-1β pathway in promoting CVD (Duewell et al., 2010; Rajamaki et al., 2010; Janoudi et al., 2016; Ridker et al., 2017; van der Heijden et al., 2017) and the link between inflammation and CVD is further highlighted by the link between sepsis survivor and higher risk of having a heart attack or stroke (Lai et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and stroke disorder.
