LDLR and atherosclerosis: DNA methyltransferase inhibitor 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC) was administered to LDL receptor knockout mice fed a high-fat diet, and it was found that 5-aza-dC-treated macrophages downregulated the expression of pro-inflammatory factors, attenuated the migration and adhesion of macrophages, thereby delaying the progression of atherosclerosis (Cao, et al., 2014).
