Several biomarkers predict a poor outcome of the disease, including increased levels of IL-6 (interleukin 6), serum ferritin, CRP (C-reactive protein), LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), D-dimer, and fibrinogen (11, 12, 47–49), as well as reduced levels of antithrombin (45) and lymphopenia (50). Here, CRP is linked to lymphopenia.
