Several researchers reported that the overall concordance in TERT promoter mutation between urine and tumor tissue was high in both UBC and UTUC (92%, cfDNA in UBC; 89–94%, urine pellet in UTUC; 73–90%, urine pellet in UBC) (83), suggesting that urine liquid biopsy is sufficient for analyzing TERT promoter mutational status in both UBC and UTUC, and exhibits clinical potential for UC diagnosis. This evidence concerns the gene TERT and renal pelvis/ureter urothelial carcinoma.
