At the whole blood level, there was no statistically significant difference in the percentage of CpG island methylation in the CALCA (P = 0.1174) (Figures 1(e) and 1(f)) and the CALCB (P = 0.4481) (Figures 1(g) and 1(h)) promoter region between the patients with pancreatic cancer and normal controls. The gene discussed is CALCB; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
